I remember the day Mark was born. I woke up in the middle of the night on February 5th to discover that the lights were on downstairs and there was a lot of movement. When I got down there and asked Mom what was going on, she told me that she was getting ready to have the baby. My grandparents were on the way to stay with the rest of us kids. I remember it being almost impossible to go back to sleep that night. The anticipation and excitement was too much. To make matters more exciting, it was snowing that night-hard. I remember that it took my grandparents quite awhile to get to our house because of the difficulties caused by the snow. I think the mode of transportation for the doctor to get to the hospital was an ATV.
The next day, Jarrett and I were at my grandparent's house, waiting for the call. When it finally came in, my grandmother talked to Pop first, then handed the phone to me. Pop said "Well, you've got another little brother". I said "WHAT? It's supposed to be a girl!" I think I told him to "put him back!" If I didn't say it, I remember thinking it. I didn't mean it, though. I was still thrilled, even if it was another boy.
If only I'd known then how much that little brother was going to bring into my life.....
